Research Areas

Research Area: Structural Mechanics

The research being conducted in structural mechanics is very diverse. Some of the current projects focus on various aspects of anisotropic, stochastic, linear and nonlinear viscoelastics, others focus on hierarchical learning networks, solid propellant and filament-wound rock cases, and thick thermosetting matrix composite manufacturing. There are currently fifteen active research projects in structural mechanics. Several of these projects are sponsored by government agencies, leading industry companies, and other universities such as: the U. S. Department of Defense, NASA, the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, Portland State University, the University of Delaware, and Florida Atlantic University. The research is conducted by faculty members, numerous graduate students, undergraduate students, and visiting scholars.
