Research Areas
Combustion, energetic materials

Professor Buckmaster retired in 2005 and spends one half of the year in Urbana, IL, one half in Eugene, OR.  He is the sole proprietor of Buckmaster Research which does collaborative research with the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) program.  He is on the editorial board of the journal Combustion Theory and Modeling, published by Taylor and Francis.

Research Areas:

Buckmaster Research has an STTR Phase II contract with AFOSR with CSE as the university partner.  Its goal is to produce computer simulations of interest to the solid-propellant rocket industry in the areas of propellant modeling, propellant combustion, aluminum agglomeration, chamber flow, and nozzle flow.  He also participates in the Center for Simulation of Advanced Rockets (CSAR) within the CSE program.
