Dan Regan, BS 13, is a System Development Systems Engineer in Advanced Imaging at Ball Aerospace and Technologies Corp.
Working on Inertial Stellar Reference Systems (Star Trackers) for scientific and national defense spacecraft, Regan has contributed to benefiting numerous programs, including WorldView 3, the James Webb Space Telescope, and several national defense missions. Regan is a former director and technical projects director of the Illinois Space Society (ISS), the student group that sponsors Illinois Space Day.
Illinois Space Day is a daylong educational event geared toward preschool through high school students. The goal is to inspire an interest and passion for space, science, and engineering. Features are distinguished guests, hands-on projects, and science demonstrations, including:
• Hybrid Rocket Engine Test
• Liquid Nitrogen Experiments
• Space Shuttle Tile Demonstration
• Egg Drop Contest
• Orbital Simulator
• Student Technical Projects Presentation
• Flight Simulator
• Engineering Tours
• A Q/A with current ISS students
