How Do I Buy Something?
An overview of the Aerospace Department's purchasing system
Below are the methods for purchasing items:
- Campus stores on the web. http://www.cstores.uiuc.edu/, UIUC login is necessary. Please note that all Dell and Apple computer orders, must be submitted thru campus stores.
- Less than $5,000: use the UIUC AE Department credit card (p-card).
See list of exceptions on UIUC Credit Card Order Form. If this item is an exception, it MUST go through UIUC purchasing (see below for a requisition).

UIUC Credit Card Form - The ordering center is now located in 306J. Like any credit card, there are several ways to order:
- Fax: we will fax the completed Department Credit Card Form and any quotes directly to the vendor.
- Web orders: please use the computer in 306J to enter your order.
- Telephone: for complex orders, you can phone the vendor and place the order. Please still complete the form - we need it for our records. We will also need to forward credit card information.
- Mail: please complete any vendor forms.
- More than $5,000 (or on the list of exceptions - please see Angie): Requisition
This will require a UIUC purchase order that must go through purchasing.

- Less than $250: Personal Reimbursment
(it is preferred that items be purchased with the UIUC credit card; only as a last option should items be purchased with personal funds)
