Current Technical Projects

IARC Competition

  • Construct, design, and test autonomous uav robot
  • Work together with Design/Build/Fly and IEEE and divide the project into: avionics, airframe, localization and mapping, and stability and control
  • Mission: Autonomously enter building, evade security, find and replace flash drive, and exit the facility
  • Competition and associated conferences to be held August 2013

Wisconsin Space Grant Rocket Competition

  • Design, build, document, present and launch rocket
  • Attend competition on April 27-28 in 2013 to compete against other Midwest schools
  • This year's goal: given specific motor, optimize for 3000 ft apogee
  • Last year's goal: closest to 3000 ft apogee and transmit live video on the way up back to the ground
  • Finished 2nd in the 2012 regional competition
Rocket Competition

R/C Aircraft

  • Using attached camera, configure aircraft for 1st person long distance flight
  • Make modifications to improve performance

Jet Engine

  • Test and experiment on miniture JetCat engine
  • Look into possibly constructing aircraft to mount jet engine on in order to fly
  • Check out the first successful run of the engine, JetCat Engine
